'There's no waking up from reality': Murder victim's husband speaks

Prayers for justice in Dallas mother's murder.

DALLAS - Javier Gonzalez felt compelled to say something in honor of his wife of almost 15 years.

"If I don't talk she's not talking," said Gonzalez.

When News 8 met with Gonzalez in Dallas, he was clutching to a cross and was just hours removed from his wife, Martha Teran's, funeral.

"I wish I could wake up,” he said. “There's no waking up from reality...reality is she's gone.”

Martha Teran was shot and killed in the parking lot of Medieval Times in Dallas.

Police say the man who fired the weapon is Lonzell Hunter. Late Thursday, DPD announced the arrest of Javan Bush, the alleged getaway driver. Both are facing capital murder charges.

"A meeting place was established at 2021 N Stemmons Freeway when Hunter arrived and shot Mrs. Teran after taking her cellphone," said a spokesman for Dallas Police on Wednesday.

Family says Martha was trying to sell her iPhone 7 to have some money for a vacation. They used a buy-and-sell app called Offer Up to meet with Hunter.

"They met in the parking lot thinking it was a simple exchange of money for a phone," Javier said.

It did not end that way. Javier was out of state on the job when he got the call from his daughter that Martha had died.

"I was flipping out,” he said. “I thought it was a lie.”

Martha's two children were with her at the time. Family says when she was shot she slumped into her children's arms.

"People need to appreciate each other instead of killing each other for no reason," he said.

Teran was described as a loving, hard-working woman who put everyone else before herself. A viewing service was held on Wednesday and the funeral was held on Thursday.

Family tells News 8 that there were three men in the car at  the time and police confirmed that they are looking for other people involved in the crime.
