Killeen baby represents Texas in National Pageant

KILLEEN - A Killeen baby is representing Central Texas in the Baby Miss America National Pageant in February, and she's hoping to bring home the win. Samiya Marion quickly moved through the ranks in the pageant world earning titles including Baby Miss Southwest Texas and Baby Miss Port Arthur Texas, allowing her to advance to the Baby Miss America National Pageant.

Samiya's parents say they're glad their child is enjoying the pageants and making many friends through them, but they also say they're thankful the competitions are teaching Samiya important social skills and life values along the way.

"You know sometimes it's hard to see the next person doing well and I want her to understand even if you're not in that place yet it's important that you support everybody" says Samiya's mother, Toni Marion.

In a statement provided to Channel 6 News online Toni also says

"My husband and I are committed to seeing her through her pageant journey and are honored that she is representing the great state of Texas" says Marion.

The National pageant is taking place in February 2017 in New Orleans.
