DPS seizes meth valued at $1M during traffic stop

AMARILLO, Texas — Authorities say they seized more than 12 pounds of methamphetamine estimated to be worth about $1 million during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon on Interstate 40 near Conway.

A trooper who stopped the car found the drugs wrapped in plastic inside the rocker panels, according to Cindy Barkely, a spokeswoman with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The trooper arrested 20-year-old Ernesto Ayala, of Oklahoma City. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail.

Barkley said authorities suspect Ayala was transporting the drugs from San Diego to Oklahoma City.
