Dallas sergeant arrested after kicking in door of home

DALLAS — Dallas police Sgt. Zackary Kerr was arrested for trespassing at a Southlake home.

The incident began when Kerr suspected his underage daughter was drugged at a party. A Southlake officer knocked on the door but no one would answer. When the officer went back to his car, Kerr kicked in the door.

The 26-year veteran was charged with one count of criminal trespassing. He's being held at the Keller City Jail.

Authorities then contacted the parents of the underage minors inside the residence and they were sent home.

Kerr is currently assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit. He has been placed on administrative leave and will face an internal affairs investigation.

Authorities didn't reveal further details.
