AUSTIN - University of Texas President Greg Fenves tweeted a video of Bevo XV on the eve of the Longhorns' season opener and the steer's football field debut as team mascot.

The student organization The Silver Spurs cares for Bevo . They can be seen in the video with Bevo XV.
Bevo XV will make his official debut before the game Sunday evening against Notre Dame. He takes the position after Bevo XIV passed away in October after being diagnosed with bovine leukemia.
Bevo XIV started his tenure in 2004 and was on the sidelines when the Longhorns won the national championship in 2006. His last game was UT's upset of the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl.
2016 marks the 100th year that the steer is the official mascot of the University of Texas. The original Bevo made his debut during the 1916 Thanksgiving Day football game against Texas A&M, according to UT.
