2 murdered in tent in wooded area of Austin

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Austin police say a man and woman found dead last week in a tent in the woods were killed.

Police said Monday that the Travis County medical examiner's office has ruled that the two deaths were homicides. Police say they haven't identified any suspects in the slayings of 43-year-old Samuel Davila and 39-year-old Charlene Whipple.

Police Sgt. Jerry Bauzon says investigators won't release information on how they were killed until officials have arrested the person or people responsible.

Police say family members found the bodies Thursday. They'd gone to check on the two after not hearing from them for a while. Police believe they'd been dead for at least a couple of days.

Bauzon said the victims had family in the area but chose to live in a tent.
