HOUSTON - A SWAT standoff Tuesday afternoon ended with the suspect surrendering to police and eventually being transported to the hospital after suffering a minor injury.
Harris County Precinct 6 Constable’s Office received a 911 call around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday about a man, identified as Arturo Garza, with a knife jumping in and out of windows at an apartment complex in the 17200 block of Patricia Lane.
Houston police responded to assist deputies with a man they say was charged with assault on an elderly person in a robbery. Police say the man broke into an apartment and refused to come out.
Officials set up a perimeter, continued negotiating with the suspect over a public address system and eventually called SWAT out to the scene.
Police say the man eventually came out fell onto the ground into a pile of glass from a broken bottle during the arrest, sustaining a non-life-threatening injury to his neck. The suspect was transported to the hospital.
