10:59 AM CDT on Sunday, August 31, 2008
HOUSTON—A police horse was side-swiped by a car during an early morning police chase downtown Sunday.
It started around 1:30 a.m. in front of a night club on Congress and Milam.
Police were called to the scene after HFD said there were too many people in the club.
The police were trying to move the people out of the club when a car turned the corner and side-swiped an HPD mounted patrol officer on the street.
The horse’s leg was hit, but the injury was minor.
The car kept going, and police gave chase.
The suspect lost control on Washington at Goliad, rolled his car and knocked down a fire hydrant.
The street was flooded.
He was arrested.
