SPCA seizes malnourished dogs from Crosby home
11:00 PM CST on Thursday, November 20, 2008
CROSBY, Texas -- Thirty mixed breed dogs were picked up from a Crosby home Thursday by the Houston SPCA Cruelty Team.
Most of the puppies and adult dogs were found running loose behind a chain linked fence on the property.
Investigators rescued the dogs from a yard covered with feces and other debris.
Other dogs were living inside mobile homes.
No food or water was found on the premises.
Many of the dogs will require medical attention and some are visibly suffering from skin and eye infections.
The Houston SPCA obtained a warrant to seize the dogs after the owners allegedly failed to provide the animals with adequate care.
The Houston SPCA Cruelty Team said it's has been working with the owners for months, but conditions didn't improve.
The animals were taken to the Houston SPCA where they will undergo a series of medical and behavioral evaluations. In addition, the Houston SPCA will present their findings to the courts who will then determine the final disposition of these animals.
