09:48 AM CST on Wednesday, November 19, 2008
HOUSTON—A fuel spill made a mess of the East Freeway early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters rushed to the scene after an 18-wheeler struck a ramp and punctured its gas tank.
Fuel gushed from the tank, and officials were forced to block three inbound lanes near the East Loop.
Firefighters used hoses to suck up the gas and deposit it in drums.
It was unclear if anyone was injured.
Traffic was running smoothly again by 7 a.m.
