Another suit filed over Pink Monkey raid
04:17 PM CDT on Friday, October 3, 2008
HOUSTON—Another lawsuit was filed Friday against the Houston Police Department over a raid at a downtown nightclub.
In May, dozens of officers raided the Pink Monkey and detained hundreds of people.
Most were released.
More than 100 were charged with public intoxication.
According to the latest lawsuit, one of the men police threw to the ground during the raid was a recovering stroke patient.
This is the second time in recent years HPD has been accused of botching a raid.
The department paid damages to hundreds who were illegally detained during a raid outside a K-Mart in 2002.
