HOUSTON -- One of Houston's most notorious killers is set to die on Tuesday. And with just three days before gang-rapist Jose Medellin is scheduled to be executed, Adolfo Pena, the father of one his victims, says he's counting down the days to justice.

Adolfo Pena says he moved from Houston to Hockley 9 years ago, not looking for clean air, but inner peace.

“For what they done to my daughter in Houston,” said Pena.

His daughter Elizabeth Pena and her friend Jennifer Ertman were gang-raped and murdered 15 years ago by Medellin and five other teenagers.

“I think we've gone through about all the red tape we can go through, and I think it's about time for these guys to be executed,” said Pena. “That's the bottom line.  It's time for them to die.”

Six men were convicted for the girls’ murders. Jose Medellin is up for execution on Tuesday after a last minute appeal to save him from the executioner's needle was denied on August 1.

“He is still a scumbag to me.  And like I said, he deserves to die,” said Pena.

Medellin's execution has stirred up worldwide controversy because he was denied prompt access to the Mexican consulate after being arrested. Just this week, he asked justices to block his execution one last time, and his request was denied.

“In these three days he has left to live, I bet you he is regretting every minute of what he did to them girls,” said Pena.

The details on how the girls were brutally raped, sodomized and beaten are in a police file. Retired HPD Sergeant Ray Zaragoza was the lead investigator in the case and he has kept the evidence all these years.

"It's just that I want to remember that I helped in solving the crime and arresting these people,” said Zaragoza.

Even he can't explain why he keeps the file at home.

“It's just something that's hard to forget, especially because they are girls,” said Zaragoza.

Walking in Hockley and trying to enjoy the heavenly surroundings, Adolfo Pena sill can't find peace.

“Maybe when I die I can sit down and talk to my daughter,” said Pena.

He says that this little piece of heaven is missing his daughter, Elizabeth.

“Sometimes I wonder if we did bring her out here, if we'd still have her,” said Pena.

Medellin would be the second person to die in the case. The first was Derrick Sean O'Brien. A third man, Peter Cantu, is also on death row, and the other three men are serving life sentences for the crime.
