HOUSTON – A Houston man was hit by a car while walking across the street.  It happened Saturday at 1:00 a.m. at 78th and Harrisburg.

“The HPD patrol unit rolled up on a body lying in the street,” said Officer David Morgan of the Houston Police Department.

Police believe the man had pulled in and parked across the street to go to a bar in the area.  As he stepped onto the roadway, a car struck him.  The car dragged him a short distance, then sped away from the scene.

The man was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died. 

The police don’t have anyone in custody at this time.
