HOUSTON -- Drinking and driving may have played a role in a major pileup on the Gulf Freeway early Thursday morning.

Police said two cars were racing near the Telephone Road exit when one of them lost control and hit a wall.

His car stopped in the middle of the wet freeway.

Another driver slammed into him, then hit and SUV and a pickup truck.

Police said the driver who lost control may have been under the influence.

He was the only person injured in the crash and was taken to the hospital.
