Her body was found a few months later on a tiny island in Galveston Bay.
A dedication ceremony is planned for Thursday night in Galveston to honor the slain child.
The city will dedicate a Baby Grace memorial bench in Menard Park near the seawall.
Sawyers’ grandmother said she hopes the bench will honor the little girl’s memory, but also remind people to be aware of the dangers of child abuse.
