PASADENA, Texas -- Police on Tuesday released a sketch of a man suspected to have killed a Pasadena couple. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s to early 40s, with a chunky build.

This is a sketch of a murder suspect released by police on Tuesday.

He is sought in the execution-style murders of Leo Gomez and his wife Milagro Vanegas, who were tied up and shot in the head in the bedroom of their home in the 2600 block of Burke on the night June 24.

The couple’s 16-year-old son, Leo Gomez Jr., was also shot in the brutal home invasion. Police believe the teen walked in on the killer and became a victim himself.

He remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Pasadena police believe that Gomez, a construction company owner, and his wife were targeted by the killer.

“The suspect had a specific purpose and I don’t think they just chose this residence because it was convenient,” Pasadena Capt. Bud Corbett said.

The younger Gomez had been dropped off at his home to pick up basketball equipment by two friends, who waited in their car. They were sitting in the driveway of the home when the suspect opened the garage door and asked them to move their vehicle.

They told police they saw the man load two large plastic bags full of firearms and property into the family’s pickup truck and drive off. That truck was later found in a church parking lot a few blocks away from the home.

It was the description of the suspect given by the teens that helped investigators create the sketch.
