Emilio's bandmates sue singer
12:22 AM CDT on Tuesday, June 3, 2008
HOUSTON—Two of Emilio Navaira’s bandmates, who were hurt when the singer's tour bus crashed in March, are suing the singer.
David Sandoval and Pedro Ramirez filed the lawsuit in Houston.
Last month, Bellaire police asked the Harris County District Attorney to seek DWI and intoxicated assault charges against the Tejano singer.
The action came after it was revealed that Emilio’s blood alcohol level was .19 -- more than two times the legal limit -- when his tour bus crashed into barrels on Loop 610 in Houston on Easter Morning.
Emilio was seriously injured and several members of his band were also hurt.
After weeks in the hospital and several surgeries, Emilio was moved out of ICU and eventually released to TIRR to continue his recovery.
Police say Emilio was not licensed to drive the tour bus.
