When 11 News found State Representative Boris Miles Thursday morning, he seemed ready to kiss and hug everyone in sight.

He was at a prayer breakfast in the Third Ward, but what may be a welcome greeting here has been called into question somewhere else.

You see, Krysynthia Rido has filed suit against Miles.

She says he planted an unwanted kiss on her mouth at a Christmas party.

She wants him tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

“Although I have not been served in the lawsuit, my attorney’s unfortunately have asked me to be silent on the issue until we have our day in court,” said Miles.

Miles says he learned about the suit through the media. “Those accusations are unfounded, untrue and ridiculous. Obviously they are politically and financially motivated.”

And Thursday was the first time he publicly talked about it.

Miles has been hospitalized with complications of sickle cell anemia. “I’ve lived with that for 42 years of my life and I have to make sure I have a calm, peaceful life. Maybe that’s why I’m so loving and joyful in my life and I greet people the way I do.”

In fact, he hugged 11 News reporter Leigh Frillici as he said goodbye. He had never met her before.

When asked if hugging a stranger might be invading their space he said, “I’m from the south that’s how I was born and raised.”

His supporters apparently embrace his affectionate greetings with open arms.
