Mourners say goodbye to boy killed on Gulf Freeway
06:37 PM CST on Saturday, December 29, 2007
Hundreds gathered to celebrate the life of a 12-year-old boy who loved music Saturday.
At the head of the sealed casket stood his trombone.
The boy was Traveon LeBlanc. His gift of music was silenced almost ten days ago when he was run over multiple times on the Gulf Freeway.
But his funeral services offered solace to his family, and Traveon’s teachers told stories of the boy who took to the trombone like a fish to water.

Family friends performed at the service.
With the support of Traveon’s extended church family, his mother was able to clap and wave her hands high in celebration of her son’s life.
The boy’s friends and teachers said the service will help bring closure, especially given the horrific way Traveon died.
The investigation into the events leading up to his death is ongoing.
