The manager of a Pasadena Taco Bell who was struck by lightning Friday night was at home recovering Saturday a co-worker told 11 News. The lighting strike occurred at the restaurant located in the 120 block of Pasadena Boulevard about 8:30 p.m.

The unidentified woman was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. A fellow manager of the Taco Bell, who asked not to be identified, said the woman was not directly struck by the lightning bolt, but rather was holding onto an "object" that was struck.

Officials on the scene said the woman was standing in the doorway of the eatery when the strike happened.

Still, the lightning strike was enough to injure the woman, who was taken Memorial East Hospital.

The lighting strike was just one of several weather related incidents Friday night. While no weather watches or warnings were issued, a strong line of storms brought plenty of lightning and wind gusts.

The increased lightning activity and heavy downpours forced the cancellation, postponement or forced late starts of many of the area’s high school football games.
