Heat takes its toll on Clear Brook student
12:53 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 15, 2007
Despite the tropical storm, Houston is still under a heat advisory. The heat is already taking its toll on Houstonians.
A 16-year-old Junior Varsity football player was acting dazed and light-headed during practice in Clear Brook High School.
This happened late Wednesday morning. When the teen wouldn't respond to questions an ambulance was called.
After about a minute, the student seemed fine, but was taken to Saint John's Hospital as a precaution.
This was the first of two daily practices.
Clear Creek has now implemented a policy in which the first practice must end by 11 a.m. and the second practice of the day can not begin until 5 p.m. to beat the heat.
Students are now practicing in shorts and t-shirts instead of full uniforms.
