Some Comcast customers not happy
06:02 PM CDT on Tuesday, July 31, 2007
When Comcast moved into the Houston market it was a big event.
But for many the transition hasn’t been smooth.
For 15 days Ralph Cruse of Sugar Land says his digital phone service didn’t work.
He called but he says Comcast was slow to respond. “I was a little upset because people kept saying, ‘man your phone is cut off. I said no, Comcast is having some problems with the switchover.”
Laura Gill’s phone service went out Thursday.
It was fixed, but in the process Gill says her phone number was lost.
“What got to me more than anything else they changed my phone number and they don’t even let me know. I had no clue my phone number was changed and I had that number for seven years.”
Comcast says that for a majority of its 750,000 customers the switchover has been successful.
About one percent have had problems, according to the company.
“For those customers who are experiencing some service-related issues, we’re working aggressively to get those resolved. We have been able to get most of those worked out,” said Ray Purser, Comcast Vice President Government and Public Relations.
Comcast says the migration from Time Warner was complete last week.
They say other small problems that may crop up have nothing to do with the transition.
Gill just wants her problem solved. “I want my phone number back -- bottom line.”
She got her wish Tuesday and Cruse’s home phone is working again.
A sign that maybe for Comcast its transition problems are now a thing of the past.
If you are having problems, Comcast's Customer Service can be reached at 713-341-1000.
