Rain water and overflow from North Texas has overwhelmed the Trinity River. The dam in Livingstone that absorbs the overflow can only hold so much. Officials there are releasing an increment of some of that overflow which will affect people in Liberty County.

At Dayton Lake in Liberty County, some of the local roads and low lying neighborhoods have already flooded and residents have left their home searching for higher ground.

According to some residents the Trinity River is up significantly compared to the normal level. The county has set up a shelter for families seeking to get away from the rising river. One resident is helping others get out of harm’s way.

The Brazos River is also rising. High water is already flooding some areas near Rosharon in Brazoria County. Authorities are bracing for more flooding when the river crests over the weekend.
