Coast Guard finds kayaker facedown in water

The Coast Guard found a kayaker floating facedown in the water near Surfside Sunday afternoon.
Coast Guard Station Freeport got a call around 1 p.m. reporting a person in the water and dispatched a rescue boat.
The crew spotted the man floating next to a kayak.
They immediately began resuscitation and took the man to Station Freeport, where he was Life Flighted to UTMB in Galveston.
The man was not wearing a life jacket and was unresponsive to attempts to resuscitate him.
The Coast Guard said it is imperative for boaters to wear their life jackets at all times and keep all required safety equipment onboard their vessel in good, working order.
