Sister of woman shot by police 'apologizes'
11:40 PM CDT on Monday, May 7, 2007
A run down house overlooking a railroad track - is the last place Marnell Villareal ever slept.
It is her sister's house.
The same sister who warned her not to return to the police station late Saturday night.
"She was wrong for going in there and messing with them that's all I know,” said Dinah Charles, whose sister Marnell was shot Sunday after she charged into the Houston police station brandishing a knife.
Charles asked that her face not be shown, but she spoke to 11 News to apologize to the police officer who was forced to shoot her sister.
"I don't blame them they was only doing their job they are not the fault of her if she had not been down there harassing them every day as she had been doing, none of this would have come up,” said Charles.

Marneal Villareal was shot by Houston police after she charged into the police station brandishing a knife.
Early Sunday morning, police said Villareal ran through the metal detector at police headquarters, and then lunged at an officer with a knife.
"She was yelling and screaming kill me kill me I want to end this and she was actually stabbing herself in the head and in the stomach with that knife,” said Houston police department spokesman Nate McDuell.
After a Taser failed to stop her - another officer shot and killed her.
Charles said her sister had filed police reports claiming someone in Tomball was trying to kill her.
A case apparently consumed her.
In November, she was accused of bringing a gun into a government building used by investigators. After being given a psychological exam, she pled guilty and was sentenced to jail for two months.
Once she returned home, she started visiting the police station nearly every day. And often, police and her sister say - she brought a knife.
But not because she had any mental problems said her sister.
"Ain't nothing mental or crazy about my sister, just a lot of pretending,” said Charles.
