The official start to Rodeo Houston is Tuesday night, but if you’re hoping for a ticket to some of the shows, you may be in for some trouble.

Tickets for Tuesday night’s George Strait show – and many of the others along the way – were in short supply at the ticket office.

Katherine Palmer and her friends are visiting from Canada, but even their international status couldn’t get them a taste of Houston and its famous rodeo.

“We didn’t really plan ahead, we just wanted to be here for three days,” Palmer said.

With or without planning, 11 News learned thousands were left out in the cold, as far as the rodeo goes.

Many fans of Hannah Montana – Disney’s latest sensation – were unable to get tickets because the show sold out in three minutes.

“It’s the hottest rodeo ticket that I’ve seen in my 34 years here, and that includes Elvis,” Leroy Shafer, CEO of Rodeo Houston, said.

Liz Schmidt drove all the way from Katy to the Reliant Center with the hopes of scoring tickets.

“I have two little girls who really love Hannah Montana,” she said.

But even love wasn’t going to cut it in this case.

Fans who were willing to shell out the big bucks might have better luck – we found tickets being sold for up to $600 each on the Internet.

“As long as the state of Texas doesn’t have a law against ticket scalping, then there is nothing we can do about it,” Shafer said.

Nothing a parent can do either – other than pay the price to get in, or stay out.
