A suspected car burglar woke up in the hospital Saturday morning recovering from a shotgun blast.

The shooting happened Friday night on Ella near 12^th Street near the Heights.

A man told police he spotted the suspect trying to break into his truck.  The man then chased the suspect down with a shotgun and told him to stop.

At one point, the truck owner says the suspect lunged at him.

That’s when he opened fire.

The suspect was taken to the hospital.

It was unclear if any charges would be filed in this case.
