HPD chief says city controller to head up Taser use review

The HPD chief said the city controller is now in charge of reviewing Taser training policies and procedures for the department.
He said the controller’s office will be working with private vendor and local universities to complete an independent study.
Questions were raised about the use of the devices after a number of high-profile arrests and incidents involving Tasers and the HPD brought activists’ attention to the issue.
