A Houston doctor has been ordered to pay big bucks to two employees he's accused of sexually harassing.

The doctor was ordered to pay each woman $555,000.

Dr. Kouji Takase was a man of few words outside District Court after losing the civil lawsuit.

He was ordered to pay each woman $555,000 in damages.

He was originally charged with sexually assaulting the two women in 2002, but ultimately accepted a plea bargain for two lesser charges of unlawful restraint.

"I'm hoping this verdict will somehow restore their self esteem and some of their dignity," said Dan Barton, a plaintiff attorney. "I believe this will affect them for the rest of their lives."

Despite the two unlawful restraint felonies and the fact that the Texas Medical Board admonished him for being unprofessional with three other young women, the doctor still has a license.

He's on probation but still in practice, which allegedly prompted one of his victims to attempt suicide.

"She was so distraught she took a bottle of pills and tried to take her own life," said Barton. "They were Xanax, Valium and Darvoset. I believe they came from Dr. Takase."

Takase testified that he sees as many as 300 patients a week.

And he may continue to do so as long as he meets the conditions of his probation. Among those conditions: He's not allowed to hire anyone under 21 years of age.
