KHOU - TV
Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, a family driving south on the Eastex Freeway at Crosstimbers was rear-ended by a Chevorlet Suburban.
The family's car, a Dodge Neon, spun out before rolling over.
Houston police say the driver of the Suburban, Robert Allen Hawk, 47, was drunk.
A father and son were taken to Ben Taub Hospital, but the mother, who was in the back seat, was killed.
Firefighters cut the roof of the car open to try and save her, but it was too late.
Hawk, police said, fled the scene, but a witness called police to tell them about the accident.
An officer working elsewhere located and arrested Hawk.
He remains jailed.
Charges are pending.
The victim was in her 50s.
