Investigators said the 15-year-old boy jumped the fence at the apartments to go swimming with friends.
According to police, after his friends got out, the boy decided to go back in, doing flips at the deep end of the pool. Investigators said that was apparently when he drowned.
When the boy failed to trend home last night, his family filed a missing persons report and began handing out flyers.
“Well yeah, they had posted up some flyers reporting him missing ‘cause he apparently didn’t come back home last night ‘cause he was out swimming in the pool. They just discovered his body that quick,” said family friend Nicole Gurley.
According to management at Villa de Cancun apartments in southwest Houston, someone came by the office around 2:15 p.m.Tuesday to report a body was at the bottom of the pool.
The pool was closed for maintenance.
The Houston Fire Department confirmed a drowning at the complex located at 9450 Woodfair.
The victim’s mother had reported her son missing Tuesday morning.
His body was pulled from the water around 2:25 p.m.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate.
