A senior at Sam Houston High School was arrested Thursday and charged with possession and intent to distribute drugs, Houston ISD officials said. AP The 18-year-old suspect faces up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted, officials said. HISD police found 43 Xanax tablets and 10 ounces of marijuana, police said. They also found a list of about 30 names with amounts written next to them, believed to be what was owed for the drugs. HISD police officer Veronica Robles said the suspect had previously been referred to an alternative school on other charges and had just returned to Sam Houston. “Every student in HISD should be absolutely clear on this: We will not tolerate drugs at our schools, period,” Superintendent Abe Saavedra said.
