Roller derby alive again in Houston

The Raquel Welch movie, “Kansas City Bomber,” detailed the rough and tumble world of roller derby. KHOU-TV There are currently four roller derby teams in the Houston area. The sport is back in Houston. They now compete on flat tracks, not like the banked ones of the past, but the roller derby resurgence around the country is real. “It’s just the most fun. When I have a hard day at school, I come out here and get all my aggression out on the rink and it just, it takes all of my stress away,” said Tawdry Hepburn, Berlesque Brawlers. Currently there are more than 60 roller derby teams nationwide, including four in the Houston area.
