How many hot dogs would you eat for two World Series tickets?

That question was answered Tuesday for six fans who won a contest to try and hot dog their way into the World Series.

James Coney Island and Oldies 107.5 FM sponsored a hot dog eating contest and gave away a pair of World Series tickets to the champion.

One guy named Beltran couldn't cut the mustard. At least he won't be the only Beltran watching the World Series from the comfort of his own couch.

The winner wolfed down 16 dogs in just over 10 minutes. Bill Hedge graciously shared some of his trade secrets.

"You have to keep it down. You have to swallow it whole," he said. "If you don't dip it in water it will just swell your stomach will bloat it and you will not get anywhere."

Hedge plans to take his wife to the game.

11 News Amy Tortolani filed an audio report from the scene.

Shoving a bunch of dogs down their throats may have been the easiest -- and cheapest -- way to get into tonight's big game.

Marge Michel would love to see the first World Series game on Texas soil. She was hoping to snag some scalper tickets for a few hundred bucks.

"I really don't want to go any higher than 300. My family thinks I am crazy," Michel said.

We found 300 isn't the going the price.

"I have some upper level seats 650 to 750 singles," said one scalper.

Hot dogs or cash, it's going to take a lot of dough to see the 'Stros play in their first World Series.
