The embattled HPD crime lab has a new leader for its DNA section.
A nationwide search for a manager for the DNA section of the lab ended
close to home.
Dr. Vanessa Nelson used to work in DNA analysis at the Harris County
Medical Examiners office. She was also a section supervisor at the DPS
Crime lab.
Nelson has been on the job since Sept. 5.
