Civil rights groups say they plan to turn the tables on the Minuteman
project if it comes to Houston.
The Minutemen project is a citizen army that has been patrolling the
Mexican border.
The Minutemen say they will come to Houston this fall and videotape day
laborers waiting for work.
But while they're watching the immigrants, others will be watching them.
"Our objective is to have trained monitors in Houston to videotape the
videotapers," said Maria Jimenez, Network for Immigrant Rights. "Our
purpose is to ensure that the human rights and dignity of the day
laborers is respected."
The ACLU is training dozens of people how to monitor the Minutemen.
The ACLU did the same thing in Arizona.
