The City of Houston is getting an additional $7 million dollars to fight
housing discrimination.
It is the result of the first bill passed by U.S. Representative Al
Green.
Nearly 400 discrimination complaints were filed in Houston last year,
according to The Greater Houston Fair Housing Center.
"The one thing that we stand for in this country is justice and fairness
for all," said Green. "That has to apply to housing in this
country, as well.
Green says his bill received bipartisan support.
Members of the NAACP, Lulac, the Nation of Islam and Urban League were
on hand for the announcement Tuesday.
