Conroe police are investigating the owner of a dry cleaners who is
accused of putting a surveillance camera in the store restroom.
KHOU Police say employees knew about most of the cameras, but not the one in the bathroom.
An employee first noticed something unusual last week at the Premier Cleaners on Loop 336. She said one of the video surveillance monitors was coming from inside the restroom.
She called police who found an undercover camera inside the restroom's air conditioning vent. It was pointed directly at the toilet.
"He did have video cameras inside the business, monitoring the business and I think the employees were aware of that," said Sgt. Bob Berry. "I think the problem came in when the video camera was placed in the bathroom without the employees' knowledge."
Police say the owner hasn't explained why he allegedly put the camera there.
Investigators confiscated several hours of videotape. They are interviewing the six employees seen on the tape, including a 16-year-old girl.
The owner is facing improper video taping charges. He was unavailable for comment.
