HOUSTON -- A Houston mother on a walk with her two children was suddenly
attacked by a mixed-breed dog Monday morning.
The woman was holding her 2-year-old and holding the hand of her
3-year-old when she saw the dog running toward them. She scooped up the
3-year-old and that's when the dog bit her on the ankle.
It happened in the 6500 block of Sloan in southeast Houston.
The woman was taken to an area hospital but her injuries weren't
believed to be serious.
An animal control officer shot a dart at the dog to tranquilize it. The
dog ripped the dart out and trotted away but it didn't get far before it
fell asleep. It was taken into custody.
It's not clear if the dog belongs to someone or if it's a stray.
