HOUSTON — The mother of a little girl shot to death allegedly by her father in what authorities call a murder-suicide is struggling to comprehend what happened.
Shonique Johnson spoke out after making arrangements to have her daughter’s remains taken back home to Louisiana.
Deputies were called to a home on Plantation Forest Drive in Katy on Thursday night where they discovered the bodies of 4-year-old Amyira Felder and her father Tarel Felder.
Investigators say Tarel shot his daughter and then turned the gun on himself.
“He was possessed,” said Johnson. “He got possessed. That’s not him. That wasn’t him. He was possessed. That wasn’t my baby’s fight. That’s not her fight. That’s why she’s up here talking to me. That wasn’t her fight.
“My baby and God got me. I could be hurt. I could be hurting myself because the devil wanted me to hurt myself, but God and my baby got me to the fullest. I’m going to be OK because she going to live within in me.”
