Montgomery County residents head to Austin to protest injection well proposal

AUSTIN, Texas—More than 250 Montgomery County were headed for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in Austin Wednesday.

They plan to protest some proposed injection wells in their county.

Injection wells are used to store industrial waste underground.

State reps, senators and county reps will also attend the protest.

The group said the wells are a health risk, because they can pollute underground aquifers that supply drinking water to the area.
