HOUSTON -- Areas between Katy and Hempstead saw storms pop up early Wednesday afternoon, likely the first of many to come around as the day heats up.
No rain had fallen near downtown or in central Harris County by early afternoon but some areas to the north of Houston were getting drenched.
"It's turning out to be a wet week here in southeast Texas," 11 News Meteorologist David Paul said.
"After the last couple months of dry weather, any rainfull would be nice," 11 News meteorologist Mario Gomez said.
Some of the storms could produce a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning as they intensify.
Decent chances for rain stick around through the weekend, but that will keep temperatures in the low 90s. The high Wednesday will struggle to his 90 degrees.
