Mom of man accused in murder-for-hire plot will act as co-counsel in case

The man accused in a high-profile murder-for-hire plot was back in court Thursday. His mother will act as co-counsel in the case.

HOUSTON - The mother of a man accused in a high-profile murder-for-hire plot will act as co-counsel in his case.

Police say Leon Jacob, 40, and his girlfriend were both charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill their exes. The pair was reportedly willing to pay $10,000 for each murder plus two Cartier watches.

On Wednesday, Jacob was back in court. His lawyer was granted access to financial records and witness information. The judge also again denied bond for Jacob.

Investigators say Jacob wanted to kill his ex-girlfriend. He was recently charged with stalking her and allegedly told the undercover officer he wanted her taken care of so she couldn’t testify.

McDaniel, Jacob’s live in girlfriend, is accused of hiring someone to kill her ex-husband.

Jacob's girlfriend, Veterinarian Valerie McDaniel, committed suicide in March.
