Man tells deputies he shot his father

Investigators are trying to determine what led a son to shoot his father.

NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY – Detectives say shots rang out just after 4 p.m. Tuesday as a son and father were home alone.

Detectives say the 25-year-old son told deputies he'd shot his dad.

Following the shooting, the father ran to a neighbor's house bleeding from the mouth.

The father was taken by Life Flight to a hospital in extremely grave condition, Harris County Sheriff deputies said.

"He has not been charged as of this time," said Alan Bell with the sheriff's office. "He was detained. He was transported to our office to be interviewed. The wife and daughter have been taken there as well, just to find out what the family dynamics are."

Neighbors said the son appeared to be very close to his father.
