HOUSTON -- All westbound main lanes of the Katy Freeway were closed for nearly three hours early Friday after a young woman slammed her small sedan into the back of an 18-wheeler.
Houston TranStar reported the crash occurred around 3:50 a.m. near the exit for Barker Cypress.
Investigators said a 25-year-old woman struck the back of a slow moving big rig, peeling back the roof of her car. It's believed the truck driver never stopped and left the scene before police arrived.
The woman was sent to the hospital by LifeFlight in critical condition.
All traffic was diverted off the freeway just outside Beltway 8. It reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
