Woman killed after crash into 18-wheeler

A woman was killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler early Saturday morning in southeast Houston.

HOUSTON - A woman was killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler early Saturday morning in south Houston. 

According to the Houston Police Department, they received a call around 1:30 a.m. about a crash on Almeda Genoa between Scott and Land.

Upon arrival, they found a Buick SUV had hit the back of an 18-wheeler.

Police said the 18-wheeler was stopped and waiting on a gate to open before turning onto a property off of Almeda Genoa.  

The woman who was driving the SUV was traveling east on the road at a high rate of speed before she hit the back of the trailer, police said. 

She died instantly, police said. Investigators haven't determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
