Cold surge is here to stay
07:13 PM CST on Sunday, January 4, 2009
HOUSTON -- Sunday may have started off with temperatures in the mid-70s, but in the afternoon the mercury dropped by 20 degrees.
“The cold surge is here to stay for the next few days,” said 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.
Gomez said that on Sunday night we can expect temperatures to drop to the mid-40s and that chilly temperature will continue through much of Monday.
“The temperatures are only expected to rise a degree or two on Monday,” said Gomez. "We won't see warmer temperatures until Wednesday or Thursday."
In addition to the frigid temperature, we’ll also experience light showers over the next couple of days.
However, Gomez said we won’t see any sleet.
