HISD teacher wins beauty pageant

HOUSTON – A local Texan beauty had her tiara dreams fulfilled in a night of pageantry at its best.

Houston ISD teacher, Andrea Hill, was crowned Miss Black Texas USA 2009.
Houston ISD teacher Andrea Hill, was crowned Miss Black Texas USA 2009 on November 16 in a competition featuring contestants from across the state.
Hill is a sixth-grade teacher at Patrick Henry Middle School in Houston ISD. She competed against 10 contestants between the ages 18 to 27.
During her reign, she wants to promote her “Ladies of Distinction” platform. Her purpose is to promote social progression in the lives of teenage girls so they may become empowered to reach their full potential in life.
In addition to winning the title of Miss Black Texas USA 2009, Hill was also selected as the talent and interview winner. She will now begin preparation for competition in the national Miss Black USA 2009 pageant.
Miss Black Houston USA Roneshia Ray was named first runner-up. Miss Black Stafford USA, VeRonique Williams was second runner-up. Miss Black Southwest Texas USA, Al-Licia Provost was third runner-up, and Miss Black ArkLaTex USA, RaKetra Knight was selected as fourth runner-up.
The Miss Black Texas USA Pageant is a part of the Miss Black Texas USA Organization and Black All-American Pageant Systems, Inc.
