Red Cross shelter receives big donation

HOUSTON -- The Red Cross got some much-needed help Tuesday thanks to the generosity of three charities.
The International Orthodox Charities, Globus Relief and Newways International presented their donation of medical and hygiene supplies at the Red Cross Auchan Shelter, located in 6059 South Loop East.
There are more than 500 residents at the shelter whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Ike.
The supplies delivered include baby wipes, gloves, hygiene and toiletry kits, antibacterial soap and medical items.
