Did a Texas Lottery game link to porn?

HOUSTON -- The new Slingo scratch-off ticket will cost you $2, and you could win a $25,000 jackpot. However, for some, the latest Texas Lottery game comes at a much higher price.
Part of the lottery ticket promotion encourages game players to log onto the social networking Web site Slingo.com so they can interact with other Slingo players.
Rob Kohler of the Christian Life Commission said when he checked on the site what he viewed was nothing short of hard-core pornography.
“I tell you, I represent some folks who are pretty disturbed by this whole thing,” said Kohler. “We came across several that are direct links into pornographic Web sites where individuals talk about who they are and then, ‘Come look at my link.'”
Kohler and his group are questioning why the Texas Lottery's Web site is encouraging people to visit Slingo.com.
11 News checked out some of the profiles too. Many were too obscene to be shown on TV or even online.
All of it can was directly accessed through the Texas Lottery's Web site, which started advertising the new game on its site last week.
The Texas Lottery Commission seemed shocked when told of what material could be accessed on Slingo.com.
“We think it's inappropriate, and we definitely don't want to expose our players to material like that,” said lottery commission spokesman Bobby Heith. “Because of our agreement on this particular game, we have to display their Web site on our Web site. We don't have to link to it, we only reference, but we would warn all our players to be careful.”
As for Slingo?
The New Jersey-based company removed one of the questionable profiles that 11 News found, and a spokesperson said they have several people monitoring the profiles. The company said it follows the same standards as network TV.
Kohler said he isn't buying that explanation.
Still, the Texas Lottery and Slingo.com said they wanted to know of any profiles that contained pornography or other inappropriate material so they can be removed as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, the game and its $25,000 prize are still available anywhere Texas Lottery tickets are sold.
